My Life Be Like...
Just your average caffeine addicted, overly stressed teenage. Probably taking too many advanced courses for how much time I don't have. Living a life full of tennis and college stresses. The wants to travel the world and see things that are not found in the great U S of A. To study for another seven years isn't ideal but it will be welcomed when the pay-off is grand.
Reading was always something associated with Shelby's life. She learned to read just like every other child for her age. She learned with practice and the knowledge from her early childhood teachers. People read for many reasons. They read to become interactive with people, but they also read to become separated from people. People read for knowledge of something true or the world someone else created. Everyone must continue to read whether they want to or not. It is a learning experience through and through. One might not be great at first; but with practice... it will get better. What makes reading easier is a connection to what you are learning. If there is something you can relate to within the text, the more you will want to read, and the easier the reading will be. But if there is nothing to relate to or connect upon, it becomes much harder to keep your attention and drive to continue. The book cover drags in Shelby. She takes judging a book by the cover to a whole new level. When there is a unique cover to a book, the need to see what it's about becomes stronger. The same goes with the title of the book. The more unique, the more her attention is drawn. The faster the book kicks into gear the better. Slow starts bore her and it makes it much tougher to continue on. But bad writing with a quick start are also a turn off. If the writings bad, her reactions toward it are going to be the same. Reading at home is mainly placed on the weekends when the time is endless. Car rides are the best time because the span of time between two places is perfect for reading. Reading can be enjoyable when you are engaged in the topics within. When the reading isn't desirable, reading becomes a challenge. Overall, reading is something that should be enjoyed not dreaded.
Writing is something that is only done when necessary or the drive is too strong to ignore. Like stated above, Shelby learned how to write like almost every other child learned. With the pencil in her dominate hand and the dotted line with the example next to it. People write to express what their feeling whether it is for publishing purposes or just to get it all out without consequences. Like above writing can be used to segregate themselves from others or connect them. Most coaches will say to their athletes, "Practice makes perfect." The same goes for everything including writing. Practice will make perfect, but a little instruction and a couple nudges never hurt anybody. Non-fiction writing is always a popular topic among Shelby's writing. The knowledge you must gain in order to write the piece is a learning experience. But you are enjoying that learning experience in order to make the piece great. Fiction is always a nice distraction from the needs of non-fiction. Dreams. They lead Shelby's writings. Topics within her dreams are what drives any fiction writing she decides to write. She doesn't tend to show her writings to people because she doesn't feel the need to show something she did late one night, on a weekend, spent alone, with her cats. She doesn't find it necessary to have people respond to her work because she has good enough judgment to do it on her own. Writing is rarely done under the Tanner-Carter roof. The only intense writing sessions are saved for the few papers necessary for a good grade. Writing is a natural thing. Sometimes she tries to over do it, though, with large words and odd meanings. It should come naturally but if not, the more you try, hopefully betterment will come.
